08:04 am - No Miracle
Nope, no MFF for this ox this year. What reservations there were have been cancelled. Oddly, I will have the extended weekend (Friday-Monday) off but it doesn't help enough as I just can't go on my own. I suppose it's meant as a consolation and I don't mind the time off, but it feels a bit like rubbing it in.
At least I have heard things might be picking up and not just for the holiday rush. It looks like I might make Penguicon again next year, though RCFM might be a bit dubious.

10:15 pm - And some not so good news.
It looks like I will not be going to Midwest FurFest at all this year. Orders are down, the economic situation is... dubious.. and ACME, like everyone else, is cutting back quite a bit.
I'm not out of a job, just that this year that part of it doesn't look like it will be happening, short of a miracle. I'll miss MFF. Maybe next year things will finally pick up some. I hope they do.

06:10 pm - Made the MFF Cartoon Diary
This fellow, who goes by the name kinkyturtle, draws cartoon diaries of the conventions and such he attends. He was at MFF this past November and evidently saw 2's show and thus my little delivery to the gryphon. Have a look at MFF Cartoon Diary, page 4-10. Though my horns aren't quite that stubby, I think it's pretty good likeness overall.

06:08 pm - MFF 2008 Photo Gallery
Whew. I know it's been over a month, but I finally have the MFF 2008 gallery up on the ACME Delivery site. I did what I could with some of the photos. That flash is intense and when close things are whitish it can wash stuff out. Hopefully my processing of the pictures helped enough. I'm glad that the photos of the delivery to 2 the Ranting Gryphon (while he was on stage! That was his idea, by the way.) turned out so well. This time there are pictures of every delivery I made at the convention. I think that's a first. And there are some pictures of me off the clock as I offer candy around.
I've also added a few items to the Product Page as well updated the pages about what conventions ACME has done (well, I have done) deliveries at and what conventions I might be going to. It's never a sure thing, but I really hope to make it back to Penguicon and RCFM again. And yes, I know, I still need to work on the gallery for the last RCFM.

09:15 pm - Midwest FurFest Preparations
In case I didn't mention it, it's been confirmed that I will be delivering at Midwest FurFest again this year. So far it looks like I have thirteen deliveries to make, but it might be a couple less or a couple more. I know there will be at least ten parcels for certain. I've seen the stack.
I also will have the Cow Tales candy again, but just that. I won't have the crazy amount of odd candies I did last year.
Hopefully I can get the deliveries done fairly quickly and only have one or two candy runs. That way I can have some time for myself and enjoy the convention.

08:55 pm - Work at MFF and a visitor to a neighbor
I thought I was pretty busy at MFF this last time. I had heard a couple comments about that, which I didn't mind in the least. Tonight I happened to be looking over the IRC log for the Funday PawPet Show as I was watching it and saw a person comment, "That delivery ox was doing a lot of work." That's very gratifying. It's nice to know that effort gets noticed.
I had some more effort tonight, but not work related. A fellow stopped in at a neighbor's place a few houses down. This would be no big deal but it had been snowing all day and it's still snowing now - and the only snow removal equpiment that street has seen all day was the snow blower I was using tonight. The neighbor's place is partway down a hill. The visitor was driving a pickup. It was not four wheel drive.
That's not a good combination and the street was pretty slick as the driver found out when he tried to leave. He wound up backing down some to try find traction or get a running start and it didn't really work. Every time he tried he wound up farther down the hill until he ran out of downhill and managed to get to a level side street. Too bad that that side street is a dead-end. So it meant a running start to a turn and then another try at hill climbing. I saw him do this a few times.
I took a break from working the snowblower and went see what I could do. I know the truck engine did the majority of the work, but I still feel like I pushed that pickup most of the way up that hill.
I do wonder about some of the folks that went down that hill this evening. I have my doubts they'll get back up it again until the streets have been plowed and sanded. One smart lady had someone drop her off and walked down rather than get a car stuck somewhere down there.

10:15 pm - MFF bound, well almost.
I'm packed up and ready to go to Midwest FurFest. According to the paperwork I'll have sixteen deliveries to make during MFF. That's just the count right now. If things go like they did at Rocket City FurMeet there could easily be a few more added.
Even with those deliveries, I expect to have some time for myself. See folks there!

09:05 am - Wide open spaces...
That last post reminded me, even with a free IJ account I have 100 icon slots. And right now I have a whole four icons, leaving 96 slots open.
My next big set of deliveries will be at Midwest FurFest next weekend. When I'm not delivering things or otherwise occupied I should see about having a few more icons made. I'm a bit new to all this so does anyone have any suggestions for what I ought to get?
